Workshop: Make a Mask - February 22 - March 22
Make a Mask for Your Indoor or Outdoor Wall
Sunday February 22 - March 22, 2026 – 1:00 - 3:00pm
This five-week handbuilding class will have your hands happy creating a face from a raw block of clay and at the end of the workshop you will walk away with a mask that will grace a wall in your house or your garden and patio.
During the four weeks of building we will explore the wonders of hand building techniques, slab, coil and pinch with a focus on building a mask using the slab method. You will learn more about the amazing properties of clay, and together we will look at some of its properties and some of its limitations.
Touch, feel, form and shape what goes into creating and shaping with your bare hands. Be as conventional or as abstract as you want when creating a face in clay. You will be adding facial features, hair and adornments as you see fit. The mask can be made as an indoor wall piece or as an outdoor birdhouse. Your ideas are the limitation.
The first four classes will focus on designing and finishing our masks. The last class will be a glazing class.
Maximum: 5 students | Minimum: 4
No previous handbuilding skills required. Each workshop includes hands-on learning, clay, access to tools, bisque and glaze firings and glazes
