Collection: Candle Holders

Candlelight will add warmth and comfort to most spaces. Having grown up in Denmark where ‘hygge’ is second nature to any home I like to bring candles into most gatherings.  When I started making candle holders, I thought of ways in which the candle holder would fade into the background when the candles were lit and then assume a more visible and prominent role without candIes or without lit candles. My candle holders are slab built, slim at the top to accommodate the different sized candles and then fanning out into a wider base, almost like a dress for the candles. Combining several candlesticks in varying height makes for a very inviting display.

Candle holders are created starting with slabs of moist clay. Once shaped, formed and trimmed, I incise the pattern into the clay just before it's leather hard. Following the completion of the design the candlesticks are left to dry completely in preparation for the first firing. After the bisque firing, they are glazed and fired one last time.

These candleholders are created individually with no two being exactly alike. With a deep respect for my craft, I create works to add pleasure to your daily life.
